# Production Lite (https://docs.pulsarml.com/guides/mobile-app/production-lite)

Record your machines' production by hand from the Pulsar app, the way an operator does on the floor.

Digitizing your plant's production records helps you work more efficiently, spot trends, improve traceability and make informed decisions in real time. On machines where production isn't counted automatically, your operators record it from the Pulsar app with the **Add Production** button on the machine's card.

## Add production [#add-production]

It only takes a minute.

<Steps>
  <Step>
    On **Home**, find the machine and tap **Add Production** on its card. The screen shows the machine's name and shift at the top.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In **Step 1: Production Quantity**, enter how much you produced, in **Units**, and tap **Next**. The quantity must be more than 0. It's a whole number unless your account is set up to accept decimals.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In **Step 2: Select SKU**, tap the SKU you produced, or type in the **Search** field to find it, and tap **Next**. Only the machine's SKUs appear.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    If your account uses production orders, the next step, **Select Production Order**, lets you choose an order or create one with **+ Add new**. It's optional: tap **Skip** to leave it out.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In **Select End Time**, set the **End Time** of the production you're recording. It must fall within the shift: after the shift starts and before it ends. It starts out set to just before the current time.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    If your administrator has added custom fields, fill them in, one step each. Then tap **Submit** to save the record.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Pay special attention to the end time, so your production counts toward the right shift. Also make sure you're recording the right unit of measure, such as pieces, boxes, containers or kilograms.

**Show History**, at the top right, lists the production already recorded in the shift.

## Defects [#defects]

Your operators can record defects hour by hour or before the end of the shift with the **Add Defects** button on the same card: they enter the quantity, choose the SKU and choose the defect type. We recommend grouping defect records by type. See [Add defects](/guides/mobile-app/new-app#add-defects).
